“Constructing Promise from Broken Pieces”

Are there times in your life where life just doesn’t make sense to you in the way that it used to? When the pieces just are not fitting or coming together? Where details in your life have become disjointed and an unrest and even weariness sets in?

Perhaps you feel as though you have lost your compass; at least the components that directed the affairs of your life up to this point just seem a little if not a lot “off”.

Maybe it is time to look at what has been directing your steps. Where have you placed your confidence? What has served as your surety?

In the beginning, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters and broke an unbroken silence as He spoke light into darkness. Then there was light. In the midst of your obscurities in life perhaps God desires to dispel some areas or pockets of darkness. Light always dispels the darkness that surrounds it.

In the beginning of our lives we are made in His image, formed and fashioned in the womb to fulfill a very unique story that no one else can walk out.

In the beginning man was created and was naked without shame.
Till he fell for the darkness, and there was night.

In the beginning, there was the Word and he was God and the Word was with God
And he dwelt among us and there was life.

The Lamb of God was broken and his life was poured out for the sins of the world
And there was life; for you and I and all of whosoever will follow by faith and believe God.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. The seen is created from the unseen. Ponder that if you will. Open the eyes of my heart that my understanding may be unveiled!

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. You and I too have an inheritance from God. It is already promised, fulfilled and imparted at the Cross. Jesus already has made full provision. This inheritance must be simply received.

Abraham went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.

Perhaps you find yourself standing poised before the threshold of your “promise land.” In the story God wrote for your life is to be discovered the unfolding of His promise to you. In order to receive the things promised, they are to be seen and greeted them from afar by embracing by faith the unseen. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Acknowledge as strangers and exiles on the earth that we speak and make it clear that we are seeking a homeland. Rest from your weariness as a sojourner is sought and awaits.

If we are thinking of that land from which we have been called out, this affords opportunity to return. We have been called out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Going back to the comfort and familiar will not give you rest; it only seeks to perpetuate your weariness because it cannot fulfill and satisfy a hungry heart nor quench that for which you thirst.

In our wandering do we not seek and desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one? Therefore God is not ashamed to be called our God, for He has prepared for you and I a city.

In Christ Jesus, we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that we may proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
(1 Peter 2:9,10)

His mercies are new every morning so why not embrace them? Is it is time to take that step? There is a place prepared for you and I. Receive if you will.
