No Greater Love Than This

In John 15:13 Jesus gave us the illustration of what love truly and expressively given should bring into the exchange given one to that of another.

Do you or I truly have a grasp of what He desires? That we possess an actualization of is beyond the confines of the imagination? Yes, you read correctly, an actualization; which is going beyond mere realizing with the mental construct of a concept. Take a moment to allow this statement to settle in and try to fully feel into what this means.

I would venture to say that there are some of us who do not even know how to approach let alone enter into such.

Some do and have experienced this and if that is you, then I must say that you are richly blessed to have discovered such in your relationships.

Let’s look at the full context of what Jesus had to say in John 15.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
(John 15:12-17)

I wrote recently on abiding in Him so I won’t repeat myself here this morning in that respect.

How do you love another as Jesus loves you? Do you grasp how deep and far-reaching Jesus’ love for you extends? This is beyond our comprehension yet it should be our highest aspiration to reach for. His love is infinite as is His nature. Are you afraid to let such a level and depth of love to penetrate your heart? Do you fear allowing your heart to become that vulnerable? If so of what are you afraid of?

Is it not that you might get hurt and feel pain? Where did you arrive at the concept that such an experience could happen inside of you?” Do you perceive that at some point in your life someone subjected you to such?

Are my questions making you uneasy? I sense that some would like to bolt and run from this and not read any further. I do hope that some will stay with me here for a bit.

As human beings, we can say and do some things in our interactions with and consequently toward others that may seem impossible to ever take back. Actions or words that we hang onto with regret for a very long time or for some, the remainder of their lives, sadly. Well, these occurrences never should have unfolded in the first place. I do not say this to be unkind. I merely wish to illustrate something vital here this morning; vital to our well being in fact. Where such offences have occurred, healing is “always” possible.

That is a rather bold and blatant statement, yes? However, there is much truth to it yet so many miss it and never heal.

This is because the healing must occur within our humanity, as the offence began there as well. However to initiate what may seem impossible with man we must remember that with God all things are possible. Now please do not see that as a blanket statement that fixes all things and quickly dismiss it by concluding “yea I heard that one before and it does nothing for me”. If so perhaps you missed what Jesus was trying show us in John 15. So may we break this down into bite size pieces and begin to see what may be so easily overlooked.

First He says” “This is my commandment, that you love one another ‘as’ I have loved you.” How can you or I love another as such if we are not deeply in love with the one who loves us endlessly and unconditionally. Are you deeply “in love with Jesus”? Are you in the honeymoon stage with Him? Have you ever had that? If so why and how can it ever diminish?

Allow me to clearly state that I do not claim to be entirely “in” what I am attempting to illustrate. Far from the possibility of what can be, yet…I am in the honeymoon state with Him at this point in time and I am attempting to illustrate what HE desires that His Bride; you and I grasp; how intensely and deeply He loves us. That is how he went to the cross and sacrificed “everything” for us.

I am writing this because He has asked me to make myself totally vulnerable before all of my readers. He so very much wants to make this very understood and beyond that; deeply embedded into the very core of the fabric of our hearts. This is very challenging for me as I open up wounds deeply embedded in my history which included a divorce which was 14 years ago and yet not until just recently did I begin to release the stuffed feelings of hurt, pain and anguish. Yes, they all came to the surface yet Jesus is enough, in fact, more than enough.

Do you hear what I have been attempting to convey to you in my blog journals in recent days? The key here is to begin to enter what I describe as a torrid love encounter with Jesus. No human being can give you such depth of utter and complete fulfillment. As I am in the midst of the honeymoon I am asked to share something that is so immense as I live and experience it. You can receive it or walk away and leave it. I am not here to impose anything upon anyone; simply openly share for those who may be seeking what I sought for a long time. My assignment is unfolding as it were in the moment and I feel as if it is going live and I am to share the story as much as possible in its entirety, as I live it out. Now does that sound strange or what?

I am to be a storyteller but more than this, I am to multiply my experience into reproduction. This is what I am writing into a publication and then screenwriting for the motion picture scene. I and others are being asked to overwrite the scene you all know as Hollywood. This is beyond huge, beyond anything we can imagine. I serve a mighty God and so now Hollywood you are put on notice. Entertainment is taking to the classroom stage. I have an enormous vision and an imagination to match it. God has begun to guide me as to where He desires to take this. I have a website in development that will be facilitating the unpackaging thereof.

As to what unfolds in coming days I cannot say how it will roll out in my writing but if you feel drawn into the story then, by all means, jump in with total abandonment if you wish and can. Hey, this is offered to all and any of you. Jesus desires for each of you to experience this with Him. If you do not believe this can be lived out in real life then I will pray that your belief levels will at least arise if you choose to stay with me on this journey.

I am going to close for today this piece of writing and leave you hopefully, some of you anyway, hinged for more. I have a fire burning in me that matches what we read of in Song of Solomon 8:6; “Under the apple tree I awakened you to my love; There your mother was in labor with you, There she was in labor and gave you birth. “Put me like a seal on your heart, Like a seal on your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, …It is about laying down your life as you know it in exchange for a gift of eternal priceless value; precious beyond measure.I hope you will stay along for the ride.

May we be all be consummated into His Presence. Then life is never the same as one is utterly transformed.
