He is our Righteousness; the Message of the Cross

I come by way of reminder today to restate why I share on this blog, my personal journey with God. I simply wish to keep my message simple and to the point and that being which is to declare openly and plainly the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how God is working through my life right now to bear testimony as to that and to who Jesus is. Who He is, illustrates why He came and offered and laid down His very life for you and I so that we could be reunited in Him back into One body and be One New Man in and through Him.

“The church” seems to carry with it many a mixed message and implication today.

This is merely an observation that I must honestly make and state. I am not here to judge and bring more division. I am here to unite us back into the very heart of Jesus.

What has happened to to the clear and pure message of the cross? Why is so much attention and focus given to many so many aspects “around” the cross to the extent that our eyes are so readily drawn away from the cross itself and it’s central message?

Why have interpretations thereof and programs and paradigms to “enhance” it become the life driving force in what many look to today as the church? By the way the message of the cross does not need anything added to it. It is entirely all sufficient and Jesus is all we will ever need.

What I observe around me brings a heaviness to my heart. So I must take a moment out to hopefully get us refocused and perhaps back into the heart of Jesus as the theme of Life itself. Some of us are there however many have departed so far from this.
Again merely an observation I hope to illustrate today.

After all, creation in it’s entirety is formed around and held together by “who Jesus is”. The more more humanity gets away from that core theme, the more divided we become.

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
(1 Corinthians 2:2 ESV) That may not read as popular to some however I am not here to direct attention to my writing or my life in itself. I am here to glorify and illustrate the magnificence of the person of Jesus. He is my sole reason for being and living. May I please make that ever so clear.

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be “no” divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has come to my attention that there is quarreling among ourselves, over the need to be right. What I mean is that some of you say, “I follow this person or this movement or that church” or such or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was any one person, movement or leader sacrificed for you?

I have simply responded to God’s call to declare and live the gospel of Jesus Christ and hold myself to it’s highest standard and excellence of quality of living and by way of example help to lead others toward the same; to magnify the person and Presence of Jesus.

Why do we often find ourselves drawn toward the need or affirmation from others that we are right and in order to justify that we go to make others wrong? I say do not look onto your selves or others but “look to Jesus” solely. There is to be no other pattern. He is the only “Pattern” of perfection we can look to. You see that is the problem from the beginning since the fall of man in the garden. Man goes about to establish his or her own righteousness and have taken our eyes off of the standard bearer. It is not a sin problem but rather the desire to make oneself wise and in so doing we keep ourselves divided. We think we can perfect God’s original template? I say that is an endless pursuit with no destination. The cross of Jesus Christ cannot nor will ever lose it’s power. But does man attempt to nullify it’s message?

“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. (1 Corinthians 1:18-21)

For consider your calling; not many of us are considered wise according to worldly standards, not many are powerful, not many are of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who may so become in His likeness to present wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Now I would remind you, once again of the gospel I declare unto you; that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures and ever lives to make intercession for you and I at the right hand of God the Father.

I choose to, in the eyes of much of this world, to made a fool for Christ’s sake if that is what seems to manifest. For I look to not that which is seen; the temporary but to the unseen; the eternal which carries a far more eternal weight of glory. I will glory in the excellency of knowing Jesus more and more with each eclipsing moment, looking only unto Him; the Author and Finisher of my faith and of all that is now and forevermore. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the Ending, the Alpha and the Omega. I pray you will fix your eyes upon Him. May we agree with Jesus and surrender what keeps us from Him and from each other and lay this at the foot of His cross. The cross is our only hope. Lets’ return to the heart of it’s message so we can see heaven meet earth. This is what I live for and serve with all of my being; to have the sound of heaven touching earth!
